Describing Amsterdam:
bridges and bikes

Amsterdam&Copenhagen - 25 of November to 5 of December 2011
Meeting friends in two North European capitals.

From the canals and bikes in the Netherlands I went to the canals and bikes in Denmark! Despite this, the two cities are very different.
It was good to experience Amsterdam in a different way; staying at a friend's place in the outskirts (thank you E.), working at VU, I saw the city outside its most touristic side and understood its appeal that I had heard from so many other people!
Copenhagen is for me a city of contrasts. Well, probably not only the city, but the contrast between the tidyness of the streets, shops, houses in Copenhagen and the war zone/hippie feel of Christiannia!

The most crystal clear water I've seen so far (in Serifos)
Greece - 30 of August to 7 of September 2011
10 days hopping around Islands and enjoying Athens atmosphere!

Expectations are the best way to ruin an experience so I try my best to avoid them, although I know that's never entirely possible. But if I had some expectations about Greece, they got completely crushed!!
The food, the sea, the beaches, the landscapes and the people (even in the middle of an economical and social crisis).

St. Peter's Basilica at sun set
Italy - 03 to 10 of August 2011
7 days exploring three Italian cities with my sister as my fellow traveller!

It was as sunny as it was expected to be in August, and not even the multiple fountains spread all over eased the hotness of the streets, but nothing would stop us to! We were in Italy and it was time to stroll over the streets of the Roman Empire, marvel at each detail of the Renaissance paintings or even to get lost in a maze of narrow streets and canals.
Yes! Rome, Florence and Venice were waiting us!

Street artist evaluating his (master?) piece just after he finished it
Barcelona - 22 to 27 of July 2011
5 days discovering Barcelona's neighborhoods with Isa as my fellow traveller!

Even before this trip, Barcelona had won my heart after a brief encounter a few years back. It was time to test that relationship with more time to dig the secrets it had kept from me.
And, at the end, I got even more entangled within its artistic, colorful, edgy and vibrant nature! Barcelona I'm yours, and our story is not over yet!

Meet Joe, the guardian of the mountains at the End of the World
Argentina&Chilean Patagonia - 19 of November to 04 of December 2010
The longest trip so far. 16 days of driving, walking, flying, trekking, swimming from distant Ushuaia to metropolitan Buenos Aires. With Neto, Filipe & Tatiana.

To summarize this trip would be an impossible task as there were so many unforgettable experiences and jaw dropping moments! And at the end, despite the intense days we lived, there was this feeling of having only seen the tip of the iceberg!...

There are still Castles owned and inhabited
by people (living people, not ghosts).
This is one of them!
Ireland - 3 to 10 of September 2009
7 days emerging myself in Dublin and Maynooth. My first solo travel.

I actually went to Ireland for a conference in Maynooth but there was time to stop in the young and vibrant Dublin for a couple of days. Home to one of the craziest weathers I have ever witnessed, Ireland showed itself to me as the land of never ending green fields and fairytales castles that are used today as any other building!
But I want to come back. I want to come back and share a Guiness with someone, even if I don't share more than one or two sips ;)!

The black stone with infinite names of Vietnam Memorial
reflects the living passing by
US (Washington DC + NYC) - 30 of May to 08 of June 2009
10 days watching the images that I usually saw in the big (or in the small) screen. With Xana!

This was when I realized how the US could be so many different things. Even with cities so "close" as DC and NY we could feel that each one had its own identity. And this was the first time that I fell in love with New York... this was the first time that I understood that we don't need a map to enjoy the best that a city can offer. :)
